March 13, 2026, Myakka City, Florida. Keri Lee Guanciale continues her top of the leaderboard streak at TerraNova’s Winter Series, securing another feature hunter derby victory while also maintaining the lead in the overall trainer standings for the Arion Sellier Leading Trainer Award.
Guanciale claimed the win in today’s $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby presented by Equestrian Services International aboard Quintero, marking her second consecutive hunter derby victory. She earned a score of 85 in the first round and an 87 in the second round for a winning total of 172 aboard Quintero. That placed her well ahead of second-place rider Libby Rothfuss and Lorado Van Het Kleitehof, who scored 82 and 76 for a total of 158, giving Guanciale a commanding 14-point victory.
Last week, Guanciale also topped the leaderboard in the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby presented by Padd-Tack.com aboard her longtime partner, Blue Harbor. Throughout TerraNova’s Winter Series, she has been a consistent contender in the derby ring, collecting several top finishes, including a second-place result with Quintero in last week’s derby.
Quintero, a 10-year-old gelding, has been a developing project for Guanciale over the past two years and is now stepping into the spotlight as her next primary derby horse.
“Quintero is my up-and-coming horse,” Guanciale says. “He’s ten years old and has really been my project horse for the past two years,” Guanciale says. “I won last week on Blue Harbor, who is stepping down and probably retiring soon, so Quintero will likely become my main derby horse. I’ve definitely gotten to know him better this year and trust him more. Last year, I didn’t know him as well, and my dad was helping me a lot with getting him ready. This year, he’s really come into his own.”

Guanciale noted that the derby course presented a few new challenges, but ultimately rode well.
“The course rode beautifully, but when I first walked it, I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, 11 jumps!’ Quintero is very quiet, so I was thinking it might take a lot of leg, but he went in there and handled it perfectly. The track rode great, and it was actually my first time having two options as the final jump, which was really fun.”
Beyond the derby ring, Guanciale’s strong performances across multiple divisions have placed her at the top of the standings for TerraNova’s Arion Sellier Leading Trainer Award, which will present a brand-new saddle to the trainer who accumulates the most points throughout the Winter Series.
“It’s such an honor to be leading trainer here at TerraNova,” Guanciale says. “We have a wonderful group of clients, and we’re so blessed in that way. They support everything we want to do, and we have an incredible group of horses this year, which has made the whole experience really fun.”
